Welcome Class of 2024 Applicants!
We are excited to being recruiting the Highland EM Class of 2024! We are thrilled to meet this year’s applicants entering our specialty. As the interview season gets underway, here are some important FAQs as well as dates:
*As of 10/15 our initial invitations have been sent. We will send out wait list invitations next week*
Applications: We accept applications through ERAS only, and all positions are filled ONLY through the NRMP. Our deadline to submit application materials through ERAS is November 1st . An application is considered complete with the following documents: ERAS common application, CV, minimum two letters of recommendation including SLOEs, MSPE, and USMLE Step 1 scores and/or COMLEX scores.
Test Scores: We are happy to consider COMLEX scores in addition to USMLE scores. However, USMLE scores are a required component of our application process, and COMLEX scores cannot be substituted. We DO NOT have a minimum USMLE score for review and consideration of an application, however, successful applicants will have demonstrated a strong passing score.
Invitations to Interview: In conjunction with the County Program Community of Practice Group and Northern California EM programs, we will be following the uniform release date schedule. The uniform release date timeline is as follows: invitations to interview will be sent October15th at 12pm EST. Links to schedule an interview will be sent via our scheduling software Interview Broker October 16th at 1pm PST. There is a one day delay so that applicants may confer with advisor about which programs to interview with.
Interview Days: Highland interview days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. First interview day is Tuesday, November 12, 2019. Interview days run from 10am to 3pm. There is a mixer with the residents on Tuesday evening at a local bar or resident house – locations will be included with your interview day information packet.
Annual Diversity Reception: Wednesday, December 4th is the Annual Highland Diversity Applicant Reception hosted by the Departments of Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Primary Care, and Surgery/Trauma. All applicants invited to interview with these residency programs are encouraged to attend. This reception is a celebration of Highland’s core mission to advancing diversity within our training programs and the community we serve in the San Francisco East Bay. Shadowing: We are unable to accommodate requests to shadow in the emergency department in advance of the interview season due to the high number of students and rotators we are currently hosting. We do, however, welcome interested students to our weekly didactic conferences held on Wednesday mornings.
Visa Sponsorship: We are unfortunately unable to offer visa sponsorship of any type at this time.
